NEEN was founded on a simple idea: that the best businesses are built through honest support, constructive challenge and shared experience.
The North East Enterprise Network (NEEN) was founded on a simple idea: that the best businesses are built through honest support, constructive challenge and shared experience.
The network began with two friends from very different ends of the business spectrum. One worked within the third sector, supporting charities, community organisations and social enterprises to grow and succeed. The other was a highly successful business owner with extensive commercial experience. Although their organisations operated in different worlds, they quickly discovered that many of the challenges they faced were the same. By sharing ideas, questioning one another’s thinking and offering practical advice on new ventures, both benefited from the relationship.
What started as an informal partnership soon grew to include family, friends and trusted business contacts who shared the same values. As the group expanded, so did the diversity of knowledge and experience, creating a network where members could draw on expertise from across the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Today, that original ethos remains at the heart of NEEN. The network exists to provide genuine support, honest feedback and constructive challenge in an environment built on trust and collaboration. Every member is encouraged to share their knowledge, contribute their expertise and help others succeed, recognising that when one member grows stronger, the entire network benefits.
